Grilled Chili Lamb Chops

Serves 3
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Marination time: 6 to 7 hrs
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Difficulty level: medium

Ingredients

  • 3 pieces of lamb chops (I have used Australian)
  • 4 tbsp oil for cooking

For marination:

  • 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp red chili paste | red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp raw papaya paste
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix together all the above ingredients for marination and marinate the chops in it over night.
  2. Preheat the oven at 250 degrees C. Place the rack near the top flame.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, discard the extra marinate and fry the chops on both sides for 2 minutes each. (fry on high heat so that the juices get sealed)
  4. Transfer the chops to a baking dish and bake in oven close to the  top flame for 15 minutes. Turn the chops on the other side and bake for another 15 minutes.
  5. Do not over cook the chops.
  6. Serve hot.

    1. Hi Kirti. Other way of preparing this is, cooking in a pressure cooker. Just add little water to the chops and pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles. Open and check and cook more if needed. After chops are cooked , then try to reduce its liquid completely but cooking it without a lid.
