Spicy Chicken Sukka

Spicy chicken sukka is simple and dry. I make this normally with daal and chaawal. Its even good with dishes like veg pulao.

  • 500 gms Chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 green chilli slitted
  • 1 small ripe tomato chopped
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp grated garlic
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili paste (10 dry red chilies soaked on hot water and ground to a paste)
  • 1 tsp crushed kasoori methi
  • 1 tsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp chopped mint leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt
  • 5 to 6 tbsp cooking oil

  1. Wash chicken and cut into small pieces.
  2. Heat oil in wok or kadhai and add grated ginger and grated garlic. After few seconds add chopped onion, curry leaves and green chili.
  3. Fry till onion is light brown and soft and then add tomato.
  4. After few seconds add chicken pieces and fry on high heat till juices are sealed. Now lower the heat and add rest of the ingredients like 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tbsp red chili paste, 1 tsp crushed kasoori methi, 1 tsp tomato puree, chopped mint leaves and fresh coriander leaves.
  5. Place the lid and add little water if needed and cook on low flame till done.
  6. Adjust the seasoning and add more chopped fresh coriander leaves as garnish.
