Chicken Pie

In case if you are planning to make a one dish meal I guess this is an ideal one. From young to old everyone will like it. Just a nice change from your everyday meal.

  • 500 gm boneless chicken mince
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp grated garlic
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp mustard paste
  • 1 green chili finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup cooked corn /tin
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

For White sauce:
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups of warm milk
  • 1 tbsp grated cheese
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For Topping:
  • 8 to 10 slices of boiled potatoes
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
Method :

White Sauce
: Heat a non stick pan and add butter and plain flour. Roast for a minute and add milk and keep stirring with an egg beater taking care not to form any lumps in the mixture. As it thickens add salt, pepper and cheese. Mix well, cook for 1 minute and set aside.

Chicken gravy: Heat a sauce pan and add oil. Then add garlic & onion and fry till soft and pink. Now add tomatoes and chicken mince. Cook till juices dry up and then add salt,  pepper, mustard paste, green chili, chili flakes, vinegar and corn. Cook well till chicken is fully done and gravy is thick and dry.

Assemble: Preheat oven to 200 degree C . Grease a baking dish and make a layer of cooked chicken mince. Pour white sauce as second layer. Place the boiled potato slices on white sauce. Spread the beaten egg over the potatoes and finally sprinkle bread crumbs on top to give a nice crust. Now bake in oven for 20 to 25 min till u get a golden crust.
