Chocolate and Caramel Bar

Yuo will need:

2 cups flour
1/2 cup icing sugar
200 gms butter, softened

1 sachet Dream Whip powder + 1/2 cup cold milk
1 packet Creme Caramel Powder and sauce
200 gms Chocolate melted
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup coarsely chopped and toasted nuts of your choice (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts)


1) Preheat oven to 180 deg C. Grease and line a 20 cm x 30 cm baking tin with baking paper.

2) Combine all the base ingredients in a large glass bowl. 

3) Using your finger tips mix butter with flour and sugar to give it a crumbly texture.

4) And slowly keep kneading till you get a smooth dough (without adding water or milk).

5) Refrigerate the dough for 15 min.

6) Roll the dough into 1/2 '" thin sheet using a bit of dry flour  and place it on the baking tin. Refrigerate  again for 10 min and then bake for 15 to 20 min until light golden.

7) Reduce the oven temprature to 150 deg C.

8) Keep the chocolate for melting on a double boiler .

9) Using an electric cake beater mix together Dreamwhip powder, milk, caramel powder and sauce. Beat in melted chocolate and the eggs, mix until well combined. Fold through the nuts. Adding nuts is optional, If you wish you can make the bars without nuts.

10) Pour the topping mixture onto the precooked base and return to the oven for 30 min, until set. Allow to cool before cutting.

Serves 8 to 10

Note: You can substitute dreamwhip powder and cold milk with 2 cups of fresh whipped cream.
