Punjabi Bhindi ~ Punjabi Style Okra ~ Day 25

Punjabi Style Okra
Punjabi Bhindi

It was surprising for me to see that till now I have not posted a single recipe on 'Bhindi' or 'Ladies Finger'  also known as 'Okra'. Surprising because Bhindi is my favorite sabzi and it has loads of health benefits which I would like to share with you. Okra is rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K with good contents of thiamin, folate, and magnesium.

Okra is one of the best home remedies for the prevention of diabetes. All you need to do is, cut off the ends of 2 bhindis and soak in the water overnight. Next morning, discard the soaked bhindi and drink the water. By doing this on a daily basis, the blood sugar level can be controlled.

This recipe of Punjabi Bhindi has been adapted from Indiankhana. To get better results, you need to pick and select good quality bhindi which is tender, green and small in size. It is an ideal option for a lunch box along with the main course and a very healthy dish if prepared with less oil.

Did you notice that piece of crochet which is used as a prop in the food picture? This piece of crochet happens to be a handmade one specially gifted to me by my daughter Ayesha. It is not as easy as it looks because she managed to prepare it by mixing two different colors of yarns and then crochet them together.

  3. I had no idea that I had type II diabetes. I was diagnosed at age 50, after complaining to my doctor about being very tired. There is no family history of this disease. I'm a male and at the time of diagnosis, I weighed about 215. (I'm 6'2")Within 6 months, I had gained 30 to 35 pounds, and apparently the diabetes medicines (Actos and Glimiperide) are known to cause weight gain. I wish my doctor had mentioned that, so I could have monitored my weight more closely. I was also taking metformin 1000 mg twice daily December 2017 our family doctor started me on Green House Herbal Clinic Diabetes Disease Herbal mixture, 5 weeks into treatment I improved dramatically. At the end of the full treatment course, the disease is totally under control. No case blurred vision, frequent urination, or weakness
