Chicken Lollypop Manchurian is an Indo-Chinese style appetizer made with deep-fried marinated chicken wings and then tossed in a spicy Manchurian sauce. This starter pairs well with any Chinese fried rice or stir-fried noodles.
Give a lollypop shape to the chicken wings. Simply cut off the end portion of the wing. Now you are left with a v-shaped wing. Just detach the two parts from the joint. Take the upper portion of the wing, and with the help of a knife scrape all the flesh towards the other side of the bone. Watch the video on youtube for the procedure. Youtube - shanaz Rafiq
For Marinating
Combine all the marinating ingredients in a glass bowl. Mix well and pour it over the chicken wings. Mix well and marinate for 2 hours in a refrigerator.
For frying
Take a deep frying wok and heat cooking oil on low flame for 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix together plain flour and corn flour. Dip and coat each marinated wing in the flour mixture and deep fry in medium-hot oil for 10 minutes. Keep turning the sides for even cooking.
Remove the cooked chicken wings on a paper towel. Set aside and keep warm.
For Manchurian sauce
Heat 4 tablespoons of cooking oil (or the same oil that was used for deep-frying) on medium heat for 2 minutes.
Add chopped garlic and fry for a couple of minutes or until it turns light golden and fragrant. Then add chopped onion and green chilies.
Fry onion for 5 minutes until soft and pink. Now add soy sauce, tomato sauce, red chili sauce, sugar, salt, and chopped spring onion.
Cook on low heat for 1 minute and then add fried chicken wings. Toss well with sauce until well coated on slightly high heat for 1 minute.
Turn off the flame and serve hot.
