Ajwain Fish Tikka

Ajwain Fish Tikka is a spicy barbeque dish. Fish pieces are marinated with a combination of yogurt and spices infused with a slight flavor of ajwain, grilled, or shallow fried to perfection. It can be served as a starter or as a side dish with the main course meal.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams boneless fish pieces Kingfish/ Hammour
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger & garlic paste Combined
  • 1 tablespoon besan roasted chana dal powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chili
  • 1 tablespoon chopped curry leaves
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon chat masala powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • ½ teaspoon ajwain bishop's weed/carom seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste
  • 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil for basting

Instructions

  • Take fish pieces in a bowl and sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt and pinch of turmeric. Mix well and set aside for 15 minutes. Then wash the fish thoroughly under running water. Drain all the water and dab with a kitchen towel to remove the excess water.
  • In a large glass bowl, add the rest of the ingredients except for oil and mix well.
  • Add fish pieces and marinate for 1 hour.
  • You can either grill the fish pieces in the oven at 250 degrees C for 20 minutes or shallow fry on a frying pan (5 minutes on each side).
  • Serve hot with grilled vegetables.
