Slow-cooked dates jam with the flavors of ginger, lemon, and a hint of cinnamon, making it a perfect spread for toast or as a topping for ice creams.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams pitted & chopped dates Medjool
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon rind
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Combine all of the above ingredients in a thick bottom saucepan and cook on a slow flame.
  • Keep stirring to avoid the dates mixture from sticking to the bottom.
  • Cook for about 20 to 30 minutes or till the water has completely dried up and dates have softened and turned pulpy.
  • Cool the cooked jam and transfer it to a sterilized and clean glass container.
  • Store in the refrigerator and serve with warm toast or as a dessert or ice cream topping.

Notes

You can store this Jam for up to 2 months in the refrigerator.
