Apple and Oats drink is a perfect way to start the day, especially for those who are diabetic. Due to the high-fiber content and lower glycemic index, Oats help in regulating blood sugar.

This drink is high in fiber, keeps you full for a longer time. Hence, it can be a great choice as a weight loss drink.

Dates also have a low glycemic index and are less likely to bring a spike in sugar level. A diabetic person should not consume more than 1 or 2 dates at a time.

Ingredients of Apple Oats Drink

  • Oats – Here you can use both steel-cut and instant oats. If you are preparing this drink for a diabetic, then make sure you are using rolled or steel-cut oats and not instant oats. Dry roasting the oats gives a nice toasted and nutty flavor to the drink.
  • Dates – Dates are used as a natural sweetener for the drink. The best variety of dates for making smoothies is Medjool dates. These varieties have more pulp as compared to the other variety.
  • Apple – I have used Royal Gala for making this drink. Apart from green apples, you can use any kind of apples.
  • Cinnamon – It is much better to add cinnamon in a powdered form rather than a whole one.

This is a nourishing and diabetic-friendly drink made with toasted oats and apple. Apple Oats drink is lightly sweetened with dates and infused with subtle flavors from cinnamon.

Equipment

  • 1 Blender

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon rolled oats
  • ½ apple chopped
  • 3 dates deseeded
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 2 cup cold milk 400 to 500 ml or as required

Instructions
 

  • Dry roast the oats until lightly golden for about 5 minutes on medium flame.
  • Soak the toasted oats with 1 cup of milk along with deseeded dates for 30 minutes.
  • Blend the soaked oats and dates mixture along with apple and cinnamon powder.
  • Once the mixture is blended into a smooth mixture, open the lid and add 2 more cups of milk.
  • Add milk as required for grinding and according to the consistency.
  • Serve this drink chilled with ice cubes.

Notes

* Add more sugar if you are a non-diabetic.
1 cup capacity 250 ml.
